Tony started drinking ‘hooch’ in prison, his first alcoholic drink. He first came to us over three years ago with pressure sores on his shoulders from sleeping on footpaths. Emaciated, uncommunicative and totally neglected.
At 33 nows he continues to drink heavily in spite of several detox’s and spells in prison.
On release from prison, he comes straight to TRUST – calls daily – afraid to go to hostels – as he is regularly the target of attack. No motivation to change – what has he to change for?
“You are my only friends… You are the only people I trust.” We are the only people he communicates with when sober.
Tony like many young men who come to TRUST is rapidly deteriorating and is unlikely to survive for long.
